How Murdoch University is Shaping the Future of Freeze Drying Food with the CD8 Freeze Dryer

Andrew Tilly Associate Lecturer Murdoch University Perth

It was a pleasure to catch up with Andrew Tilly, associate lecturer at Murdoch University to discuss food science research and he’s teaching using the CD8 Freeze Dryer at Murdoch University.

Andrew discussed the benefits of using a benchtop freeze dryer in food science education, including increased student engagement and creativity, reduced food waste, and flexibility in teaching various concepts.

Andrew also shared he’s experience with the CD8 Freeze Dryer, highlighting its benefits for food manufacturing and education, including flexibility, high capacity, and potential partnerships with local businesses in Western Australia.

The CD8 Freeze Dryer has been a great addition to Murdoch University particularly the flexibility in setting up programs with different pressure and temperature parameters, which allows students to explore how variations in the parameters affects the result of freeze dried food.

We are glad to hear about the successes which Andrew has had with the CD8 Freeze Dryer and wish him and all of he’s student’s great success in their future endeavors in educating the food industry about the benefits of freeze dried food.
